Lower Gornal Victoria
1892: The Advertiser, Saturday, October 29.
LOWER GORNAL VICTORIA v.s DUDLEY ST. GEORGE'S
Played at Gornal. The Vics won the toss and elected to play up-hill. The visitors kicked off but the Vics got possession, and a pass to the right wing ended in L. Beardsmore scoring the first goal for the home team a minute from the start. Re-starting, the visitors equalised, but soon after the Cics again took the lead. The Saints now took up the pressing, and the home goalkeeper in trying to clear, kicked the ball against one of his backs, and the ball, rebounding through, again made matters even. There was no further alteration in the score up to half-time, and the teams changed ends with the score two goals each. In the second half the Victoria scored again, and thus won a good game by three goals to two.
Not much known about this team that appeared in newspaper reports in the late 19th Century.
