Russells Forge and Engineering Co. (Gornal) Ltd.
Holloway Works, Lower Gornal.
The works was started around 1947 in Holloway Street, Lower Gornal,
operating through the 1950s making wrought iron gates and railings etc.
In 1965, Russell's Forge was acquired by H.F. Shaw Ltd., an
engineering and steel fabricating company.
H.F. Shaw had moved from Clyde Street, Old Hill, to their new works on Burton Road in 1961, occupying a large area fronting Burton Road adjacent to the Dormston Trading Estate. Russell's Holloway works expanded after the alliance with Shaw, including taking on Shaw's architectural ironwork range under the name of 'Clyde Craft'.
It appears that Russell's moved to the Burton Road factory in the 1970s.

'Manufacturer of Fender, Fire-Irons, Rests and all kinds or Wrought Iron Fire Guards'.
Proprietor Benjamin Williams who stated that he was
an employer - Fire Iron Maker, living at 9 Prices Road in 1901 (Census).
It is supposed that the works address of 20 Prospect Road was also his father's residence.
This business appears to have been active in the 1890 to 1920 period..
Not much known about this enterprise, but later, Ben went on to establish a
small colliery at Cotwall End, see Ellowes Colliery.
After this time, the works was to become the Bakery for Griffiths,
and in turn, Rounds and Millards.

Deepdale Engineering.
Deepdale Lane, Lower Gornal.
In 1949, engineers Josiah and Arthur Nock joined with
Harry Cashmore to form Deepdale Engineering - a small engineering works
in Deepdale Lane.
In the 1950s, the Company expanded and moved to Dudley and still is a major engineering concern there producing pipework and heavy fabrications. ~
DP Engineering.
Deepdale Lane, Lower Gornal.
Another small works that occupied buildings on Deepdale Lane,
involved with toolmaking and general machining.
It appears that DP Engineering closed around 2010. The buildings have been occcupied by a number of enterprises since, including Alliance Industrial Doors c2010 formerly of Musk Lane and Metallicut, toolmakers and general machining c2010. Some of the buildings are being refurbished in 2023. ~
Musk Lane Trading Estate, Lower Gornal.
A small trading estate utilising some of the buildings
formally part of the Musk Lane Gas Works.
Notably trading there is Northway Auto Services,
a family run business since the 1970s.
This MOT and Service Centre was originally established on the Northway, Sedgley before moving to Gornal. ~
A number of small engineering works were trading from the Musk Lane site 1960s-1980s.

Listed in a trade directory as a Spade & Shovel Manufacturer, Upper Gornal.
A number of Fire Iron Manufacturers were working in Upper Gornal in 1851, including Joseph Porter and William Mills.
