New Street, Gornal Wood
This somewhat narrow street was made up of Victorian or Edwardian terraced houses once occupied by miners, a number of households would have a small shop occupying one room or the lower floor, many of these old properties still remain in the street.
The street is now entirely residential.

40c. Edward Flavell, saddler & harness maker.
Nr.40 was split into six separate dwellings.

45. Rebecca Tomlinson (Mrs), shopkeeper (general dealer).
47. John Hale, insurance agent.
In 1911 Census he describes himself as a colliery carter at the Dock Colliery.
48. Mary Jukes (Mrs), beer retailer & Joseph Jukes, publican, - The Queens Head.
58. William Hughes, potato merchant.
In 1901 Census William Hughs at No.58 was described as brick burner and wife Rose was a greengrocer.
